What is Upper Crossed Syndrome?

This syndrome occurs when muscles that are supposed to be active and strong, such as those in the back and shoulders, become weak and elongated due to a forward-leaning posture. At the same time, the muscles in the chest and in front of the neck become tight and short. This combination creates an imbalance that can lead to pain, reduced mobility, and, in some cases, headaches.
